Gurgaon NPR Project- Plots to be offered in compensation

HUDA to compensate house owners on NPR stretch

GURGAON: In a bid to get rid of encroachments on the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) project, the HUDA has decided to allot alternative plots and compensation to all house owners as per the government rules.

A high level committee had cleared the decks for the allotment of alternative plots for houses which come under the NPR project. The 150-metre wide NPR is proposed from Dwarka in Delhi to Kherki Daula on NH-8, through Gurgaon. The committee recommended allotment of plots in Mayfield Garden to the house owners who are willing to take alternative plots.

The city authorities had to rush through the decision of providing alternate plots because the Punjab and Haryana High court is hearing petitions relating to the NPR project. The next hearing on December 3 is crucial for the entire project. HUDA administrator Nitin Yadav said the decision of providing alternative plots is in sync with the state government housing policy. The owners of industrial units coming in the way of NPR have already agreed to opt for alternate industrial plots in Gurgaon. About 246 residential houses in illegal colonies which have come up in north of Gurgaon city over the years fall within the NPR, claimed a senior HUDA official.

The high level committee has decided that the house owners will be offered plots at nominal rates of Rs 500 per square yard whereas the actual market rates there are much higher, atleast more than ten times the rates offered. These house owners will be given possession of the plots as soon as approval is received from the state government. The government policy clearly endorses the rehabilitation of house owners whose land is located in government project. "The house owners affected by land acquired for public purposes have to apply for allotment of plot in accordance with the size of piece of land acquired," said another HUDA official.

The committee has divisional commissioner T K Sharma, deputy commissioner Rajender Kataria, HUDA Administrator Nitin Yadav, SDM Gurgaon North Satender Duhan, Senior Town Planner R K Singh. "Once the houses owners agree to the alternative plots then the work of NPR project will start in full swing. The project is very crucial for bolstering road infrastructure," said the official.
