GURGAON: On Monday, the deputy commissioner, Rajender Kataria, had a meeting with the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for making the traffic movement on the Delhi-Jaipur Expressway smooth and jam free.
In the meeting, the ongoing widening work of the highway was reviewed and some important decisions were taken. The deputy commissioner also asked the NHAI officials to expedite the work on the stretch of the highway from Kherki-daula to Bilaspur. Kataria said that since this stretch was six-laned, commuters are facing great hardship as the burms of the highway have been dug for widening.
Moreover, stones lying on the existing road, have reduced the motorable space on the highway. As a result, the commuters face the problem of traffic jam.
Secondly, for public convenience the deputy commissioner asked the NHAI authorities to improve the road crossings on the highway on priority basis.
He also asked them to release the compensation amount of the land acquired for widening purpose at the earliest. The farmers and land owners, whose land has been acquired for widening the NH-8, were complaining about delay in payment of compensation to the district administration. Kataria asked the NHAI authorities to prepare a plan of the additional land they needed for widening of the national highway and which needs to be acquired. The plan with proposed acquisition of land should be displayed in the office of SDM and also at gram panchayat level so that the people became aware as to which land is going to be acquired and their confusion is dispelled.
In the meeting, the NHAI authorities told that four underpasses were proposed on expressway from Gurgaon to Bilaspur Chowk to make the commuting hassle free on this stretch. These include under pass at Narsinghpur, Kherkidaula, Anajmandi and Hero Honda Chowk.
The meeting was attended by SDM, Gurgaon (north), Satender Duhan, along with other concerned officers.
