Delhi- Chandigarh Expressway gets centre’s nod

Delhi-Chandigarh express highway gets Centre’s nod

PTI | May 16, 2011, 04.10am IST

GURGAON: The Centre on Sunday said that it would consider a demand by the Haryana government to build an express highway between Delhi and Chandigarh at an estimated cost of Rs 8,000 crore.

"The Union government would earnestly consider the ambitious Rs 8,000-crore project of the express highway from Delhi to Chandigarh along the river Yamuna," an official statement quoting road transport minister C P Joshi said. Besides this, the transport ministry is also considering the state government's request to convert eight state roads into national highways, the statement said. It added that the road transport minister was responding to a request made by Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda's request at a foundation stone-laying function of the four-laning of the Rohtak-Panipat section of National Highway-71 A at Gohana. The 81-kilometre-long four-laning project would cost more than Rs 800 crore and is likely to be completed by October, 2013.

Sandeep Singh sandeep.singh1@hindustantimes.com

MUMBAI:

WATCH YOUR STEP: As interest rates surge amid a property price surge, buyers and investors need caution

Apartment prices up and interest rates are going up. The big question for people trying for a dream home with rising equated monthly installments (EMIs) these days is: should one buy a flat or does it make more sense to live on rent and wait for better days to make a purchase?

Narela: Can it remove ghost town tag?

From city for people to ghost town

Sidhartha Roy sidhartha.roy@hindustantimes.com <

NEW DELHI

It has all the trappings of a perfectly planned residential area, worthy of making any house-hunter drool-wide roads, neatly built and affordable flats, abundant water and power, huge parks, markets, banquet halls et al. Most importantly, it offers the biggest catch of them all–a Delhi pin code.

And despite this, the 8,000-odd flats in Narela, built by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), have a handful of residents scattered across its different pockets. In some pockets, the only form of life is a lone property dealer, sitting in his decked-up office, waiting forever for that elusive customer.

Delhi-Jaipur: A new highway coming

On fast track, a new Delhi-Jaipur highway

Dipak Kumar Dash TNN

12 May 2012

New Delhi: Traffic woes on the Delhi-Jaipur highway could end sooner than expected. The Union highways ministry and Planning Commission are fast-tracking a proposal to construct a new 261km expressway linking the two cities that will take the load off the existing road.
Though road transport and highways minister C P Joshi had last month announced a plan to build two new highspeed links from the capital to Jaipur and Chandigarh, the Pink City stretch has been prioritized. This new alignment road will be 4 to 6-laned and is estimated to cost Rs 10,000 crore.
The tender document says the road must connect with the Manesar-Bawal and Kushkhera-Bhiwadi-Nimrana nodes on the Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor, and other highway networks.

G Noida / Yamuna Eway Land Acquisition Issues

WORK TO RESUME AT NOIDA EXTENSION
The uncertainty over completion of projects launched in Noida
Extension is lifting, as the Greater Noida authority is planning to re-
schedule developmental work in and around Noida Extension. A K TIWARY
writes

Encouraged by positive indications from the NCR Planning Board to
go ahead with the Master Plan 2021, the Greater Noida authority is
planning to re-schedule developmental work in and around Noida
Extension.
There is also a clear indication from the Allahabad high court on
a review petition filed by the Greater Noida authority. So, you may
now breathe easy about that dream house of yours. The uncertainty over
completion of projects launched in Noida Extension appears to be
lifting.
If the trend of these positive developments continues, developers
and builders can restart construction work this month itself. They
have been waiting for this moment since the Allahabad high court
verdict over the land row. Sources say that the Master Plan 2021 of
Greater Noida has almost been cleared and is awaiting a formal
announcement of the sub-regional cell, Uttar Pradesh.
Anil Sharma, the vice president of Credai and the chairman and
managing director of Amrapali Group, says: "This is a relief for
builders and developers whose projects have been delayed since the
dispute erupted over land acquisitions. After the Supreme Court
verdict, which quashed the land acquisition of Shahberi, a number of
projects were in limbo."
In a writ petition number, Ramesh Kumar Bhagchandka versus UP and
others, it has been said that the Master Plan 2021 does not have any
approval of the NCR Planning Board, which is a statutory body
constituted under the an act of 1985. According to the act, a plan
must first be prepared and if necessary land acquisition would be
done.
In the present case of Noida Extension, the acquisition
proceedings have been undertaken and thereafter the land was sought to
be utilized by allotment to builders for raising construction that go
contrary to the plan. Under these circumstances, the petition says the
proposed acquisition is illegal be set aside. In this context, the
Allahabad high court has directed the Greater Noida authority to
obtain clearance from the NCR Planning Board for its master plan, and
then go ahead with the development process.
Experts say there is no provision for approval of the master plan
prepared by the development authority from the NCR Planning Board. The
provision is only for sub-regional plan; the Master Plan of 2021 was
sent to the NCR Planning Board for approval in 2006 and 2009, though.
According to the rules, the NCR Planning Board can raise
objections to the plan within 60 days from the time the plan was
submitted to them by the development authority. After the expiry of
this period, it cannot be challenged. It was thus that the Greater
Noida authority urged the Allahabad high court for review of the
decision over the master plan.

West Delhi Development in focus

The big movement

Atul Mathur, Hindustan Times
New Delhi, May 11, 2011

If you thought the "construction madness", which the Capital witnessed in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games, ended with the mega-event coming to an end, you are surely mistaken. The Delhi government is going to be busy with a number of road and infrastructure projects in the next few years. The

focus this time is going to be on west Delhi. According to public works department officials, of the 20-odd new roads and flyovers the department has planned, at least 14 are slated to come up on traffic choke points in west Delhi. These projects are on various stages of planning. Some of them have been cleared by the technical body. Most of them are expected to be ready by 2015.
